Asia stocks climb tracking Wall St rally; Nikkei hits record high, China GDP beats
Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Construction and Travel sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite rose 1.43% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Bank of Cyprus Holdings PLC (AT:BOCHGRr), which rose 6.53% or 0.44 points to trade at 7.18 at the close. Meanwhile, Ekter (AT:EKTr) added 3.95% or 0.10 points to end at 2.50 and Aktor Symmetochon Technikon kai Energoiakon Ergon AE (AT:AKTRr) was up 3.87% or 0.24 points to 6.44 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cenergy Holdings SA (AT:CENEr), which fell 1.33% or 0.14 points to trade at 10.36 at the close. Hellenic Exchanges Athens Stock Exchange SA (AT:EXCr) declined 1.30% or 0.09 points to end at 6.85 and Intralot (AT:INLr) was down 1.08% or 0.01 points to 1.10.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 100 to 26 and 19 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bank of Cyprus Holdings PLC (AT:BOCHGRr) rose to all time highs; rising 6.53% or 0.44 to 7.18. Shares in Ekter (AT:EKTr) rose to 5-year highs; rising 3.95% or 0.10 to 2.50. Shares in Aktor Symmetochon Technikon kai Energoiakon Ergon AE (AT:AKTRr) rose to 5-year highs; up 3.87% or 0.24 to 6.44.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.41% or 14.02 to $3,440.42 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.07% or 0.71 to hit $65.58 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.06% or 0.73 to trade at $68.03 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 1.16, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.09% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 98.61.
